Behind the initials ABS and ESP are complex systems capable of modifying and controlling the behaviour of the vehicle, intervening almost instantaneously and independently on the speed of the wheels (whether accelerating or braking), acting on the brakes and engine torque.
Initially, these systems were therefore designed to intervene during highly dynamic manoeuvres, such as braking or emergency avoidance. Today, their potential is increasingly being used to complement 'classic' mechanical components, such as suspension or steering, made possible by their interaction with a growing number of sub-systems (controlled suspension, transmission, etc.).
